Lowing Tripp (Bn 1825 D1889) married Frances Hutchings (Bn c1828 D1889) in 1848. His occupation was a Blacksmith.
Lowing and Frances were living in Norwood New Town in 1861.
In 1871, Lowing (aged 45), occupation a Blacksmith and Frances (aged 43) were resident in Anerley Vale, with their children William (21), Joseph (Bn 1854), Annie (8), Emma (6) and John (4). Plus father-in-law, Henry Hutchings (76), occupation a Greengrocer and cousin, Sarah White (22), an Unemployed Nurse. There was also a Lodger, Maurice Boulding (28) an Unemployed Coachman.
In 1881 the Census shows Lowing and wife Frances at 41 Anerley Vale, with daughter, Annie (aged 19) and son John, (aged 14). Annie married neighbour Edwin King (occupation a Baker) in September 1890 at All Saints Church, Upper Norwood. They lived at 29 Anerley Vale (1901, 1911 & 1921).
Their son Joseph Tripp and his wife, Mary, later resided at 25 Anerley Vale (1881), with their son Joseph Henry (B1879 D1907).
John Tripp (Bn 1866 D1921) married Susan née Hallett (Bn 1869 D1921) at All Saints Church, Upper Norwood in 1888, when he was 22, occupation a Painter, and she was 19 years old. In 1911 (2 Rooms), they were living at 1 Sydenham House, Anerley Vale, with sons William (Bn 1893) (aged 18) and Joseph (aged 10).
In 1921, Susan Tripp (a Widow, aged 52), son William (aged 28), a Printer’s Labourer for Lawrence Builders, Westow Hill, son Joseph (aged 20), a Warehouse Assistant for H Cooper, Corn Chandlers, Westow Street and Grandson Herbert (aged 8), were at 25 Anerley Vale.
Daughter, Emma (Bn Anerley Vale 1865 D1943) married neighbour John Emmens (Bn 1862 D1930) at All Saints Church, in August 1885, when he was a Cab Driver. He was recognised in Norwood from 1888 to 1914, for delivering parcels from the Upper Norwood Post Office, in his livery and bowler hat, driving the horse mail van, in what he reminisced as picturesque Norwood. In 1891 and 1901, they were living in Brunswick Lodge, Anerley Vale, with their three children, daughters Violet, Elizabeth and son, John. In 1921, John and Emma were resident at 18 Anerley Vale and Emma was still resident at No 18 on the 1939 Register.
In 1939, Joseph Lowing Tripp (Bn 1900 D1964) lived at 22 Anerley Vale, occupation Coal Lorry Driver (Heavy Worker). He married Winifred (Bn 1902) with son, John.
The Tripp family were popular and well known in Anerley Vale as very much part of the community, organising street parties and events for special occasions, especially during the end of the Second World War. They remained in Anerley Vale for many years, until at least 1965.
