Elizabeth Pogmore (née Laxton) aged 84 (Bn 1828 D1914) (Widow) lived at 7 Anerley Vale (2 Rooms, furnished). Married (John) William Pogmore (a Carpenter) (Bn 1824 D1880) on 2 October 1848. His father was a Labourer and her father, a Waterman. They both signed the marriage certificate with an ‘x’. Elizabeth’s husband William, had worked at the Crystal Palace during its construction and regularly since opening, as a fitter. He was taken ill whilst at work in June 1890. It was reported that he was a popular workmate, and they set up a subscription to support his Widow and children.
In 1871, William and Elizabeth lived with their five children, John (17), Ann (15), Thomas (10), William (3) and Charles (2) in Anerley Vale (no number listed, possibly No 7).

In 1881 the Pogmores were resident at 3 Anerley Vale.
Son William, (Born in Anerley Vale in 1858 D1945 ) married Elizabeth Ann Taylor at Christ Church, Gipsy Hill in 1884. They moved to Coulsdon and in 1934, celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. He was educated at St Paul’s School, Hadlow Place, Anerley Road and commenced work at the Crystal Palace when a youth. Later he entered the service of the Southern Railway.
In an interview with a local newspaper, son William recalled the occasion on which he was fireman on the train in which King Edward travelled. “I was fireman several times on trains on which King Edward went to Epsom, Brighton and Eastbourne,” he said. As time went on Mr Pogmore became an engine driver on trains travelling between Battersea, Brighton and Tunbridge Wells. He retired from work in 1918.
Son Tom (Bn 1861 D1903, aged 42), like his father William, was a much respected and popular resident of Upper Norwood who was an employee of the Crystal Palace Company, working in the gas and electrical department. He remained a Batchelor.
