HUMPHREYS – 35 & 40 Anerley Vale

William Humphreys (Bn 1867 D1915), a Gas Pipe Fitter, and wife Frances (Bn 1868 D1918) lived at No 40 Anerley Vale (7 Rooms). By 1911, they had six daughters and four sons. They married in 1888. His father had been a Tailor and her father, a Boiler Maker.

One son, Stanley William Humphreys (Bn 1895 D1971) joined the Royal Field Artillery in 1914, when he was 19 years old, occupation a Painter’s Labourer and resident at 35 Anerley Vale. Brown hair, grey eyes. In 1911, aged 16, his occupation had been a Doctor’s Lad. He survived the War, and in 1939, was a Butcher.
