HOLDEN (1871)

John Holden (Bn 1844) and Caroline (Bn 1856). In 1861, he lived with his parents and brother in Westow Hill. His father, James (Bn c1808 Billingshurst, Sussex) was a Blacksmith, as was his father before him. John’s brother Hugh, also became a Blacksmith and Farrier. John married Caroline née Sumner in 1864 (his occupation a Grocer) and in 1871, they are living in Anerley Vale, with their six children. His occupation, a Tobacconist.

By 1881, they were living at 2 Anerley Terrace, Anerley Road, with four daughters and a Boarder. His occupation still a Tobacconist. The family later emigrated to Australia.
