JELLICORSE, EDWARD JOHN BROWN (1828 – 1852)
Edward Jellicorse was born in Manchester in 1828 where he became a solicitor. He married Rebecca Dresser, Henry Dresser’s sister, in Bromley in 1852.
Edward was a volunteer in the 1st Manchester Rifle Volunteer Corps and was appointed as a Lieutenant in 1862.
Edward Jellicorse died at the Firs in 1874 at the young age of 46, probably whilst visiting his in-laws, the Dresser family.
The photograph, taken shortly before Edward’s death, shows him looking somewhat corpulent. His death certificate gives the cause of his death as Pleuro-Pneumonia.
